Obahn Busway Adelaide Tunnel Entrances Saturday 27 January 2018

A warm 36C in Adelaide today.
My knees were aching for a bike ride.
I cycled in to take some photographs of the new
$160M  Obahn Busway Tunnel opened on
Monday 11 December 2017.

Obahn Busway Underpass Construction Hackney Road - Grenfell Street, Adelaide Update 3 - 1 April 2017

Below is the link to my previous blog entries:
Previous Blog entries:

An engineer I stopped to talk to on my previous expedition
advised me the tunnel roof would be laid the weekend of
1st/2nd April from 7am.
I arrived about 8am to find the crane preparing for the
first delivery of a concrete slab.
This is a series of images of the laying of the first and second slabs covering
the tunnel adjacent to the National Wine Centre at the intersection
of North Terrace and Hackney Road.
Apparently warnings of traffic delays were broadcast widely.
Traffic flows on both roads were constricted.

The Gif was constructed of passing cyclists as the first slab was
being lifted off to place over the tunnel.

Doesn't look like too much to show for the laying of the slabs but others are placed ready to position.

Obahn Busway Underpass Construction Hackney Road - Grenfell Street, Adelaide

The Adelaide Obahn Busway is one of only a few in the world, and
the longest.
An underpass is under construction and due to be commissioned
later this year.
It will reduce traffic volume and delays by diverting the
Obahn Bus System off of Hackney Road and North Terrace
through the underpass, under the intersection, and entering
Grenfell Street through the exit at east Terrace.
I first suggested a tunnel through the parklands in a letter
to the editor some 10/15 years ago.
I have been following the construction with interest.

A teaser - how many people are there working on the apartment block? Is the fire engine moving too fast relatively?

Is that a Riley? I have been advised it is a Citroen Type 7A.

These views are from my previous foray in July 2016.
There has been a significant change.
